The Fur Baby Era
People always say that a dog is man’s best friend, but it is very apparent these days that they have become more than that. Nowadays, a dog isn’t just a pet, they are family. People are no longer dog owners, they’re dog parents. With more of these adorable four legged animals being welcomed into homes, there is an increase in apartments becoming pet-friendly. According to The Humane Society of the United States “72 percent of renters have pets, with 78 percent of apartment buildings being pet friendly”. More apartments are choosing to be pet friendly making it easier for people to find homes for them and their fur babies.
Why Pets Are So Prevalent in Apartment Homes
Many believe that pet families are increasing due to an increase of millennials putting off the idea of a traditional family with a wife and kids, and trading it in for a pet family with a dog or cat. According to The Washington Post “millennials, roughly defined as the generation born between 1980 and 2000, are half as likely to be married or living with a partner than they were 50 years ago. They are also delaying parenthood and demanding flexible work arrangements — all of which, researchers say, has translated to higher rates of pet ownership”. Whatever the cause, it is very clear that it is the pet’s time to shine.
Thanks to the increase of these furry new companions you can go to many apartments and say hello to your pet friendly abode.
